Alex Ploeger

The work of Alex Ploeger (1999) is characterized by experimental images of nature and her own body. She explores the origins of emotions and their impact on her life. Consequently, her work often evolves intuitively, in which experimenting with different materials plays an important role. Through this process, she gradually discovers how she perceives herself and how (she believes) others perceive her.

In May 2023, Alex graduated from the Photo Academy with the project 'A Woman's Face’. In this project, she delved into the meaning of bodily experience based on her own encounters. Building upon this, she is currently researching the influence of culture on the female self-image. How does the idealized image of a woman change over time, and what makes this image ideal?
