Arjan van der Meij (1969) has always been fascinated by the undeniable patterns and forms that emerge from mathematics. Given that mathematics seems more like a discovery than an invention, these forms may be even more natural than natural forms themselves.

Arjan began by depicting the inescapable rhythm of the binary number system. This has slowly and cautiously expanded to other domains, always in pursuit of completeness. The patterns are programmed and drawn by robots: a 2D plotter that can draw with utmost precision and a somewhat imprecise 3D printer are the collaborators in his studio.

Arjan's work can be found in the book “Tracing the Line” by Vetro Editions
