Inge van der Ven

Inge van der Ven

Visual artist Inge van der Ven studied Drawing and Painting at the Rietveld Academy. Her work is diverse and includes paintings, drawings, photo collages, objects, assemblages, ceramics, and installations. The work is intuitive and exudes vulnerability and intimacy.

The concept of skin and related meanings such as enclosure, protection, filter, interface between inside and outside, tactility, and connection play a central role. The artist views skin (read: body) as a second home and home as a second skin. For her work, Van der Ven collects materials and objects from daily life. Once incorporated into the work, these acquire their own inner life, an autonomous existence. As carriers of memories, they become a kind of relic of frozen time.
