Marleen Dalhuijsen

Marleen Dalhuijsen

Marleen Dalhuijsen (1983, Haarlem, The Netherlands) is a Dutch image creator. She lives in Heiloo and works from her studio in a town nearby Amsterdam.

Marleen researches transformation, witch take place in the the liminal phase. The human brain is programmed to seek safety and security. Because the liminal phase is fraught with uncertainty, it can feel uncomfortable, a phase to hurry through as quick as we can. However, the liminal phase is just as much a phase of growth and transformation. A place of reflection, rest, stillness and silence.

To find that stillness she works often analogue and creates images by experimenting with paint, charcoal and old darkroom technology.

Her work has been shown at diverse art shows in Haarlem, Amsterdam and The Hague. She is a Fresh Eyes Talent 2023 and her work is published at diverse (online) magazines. Recently she exhibited during Rotterdam Art Week.
